How could it be that my friend Sue and I drove 12 hours (technically she "drove"), spent 3-1/2 days working, 3 nights on an air mattress, drove another 12 hours and yet, I would do it again without even a second thought?
There is so much excitement in team effort, jumping in and working together, that is invigorating, educational and motivating. We arrived at the Northfield Foundation on Thursday, after a long, gorgeous and scenic drive (that, and the good company, made the 12 hours really seem far, far less)
What I gained from the experience goes beyond the physical accomplishment of all that we achieved (38 pieces of furniture reupholstered); I forged lifelong friendships, shared laughs, experienced and observed infinite compassion and worked as a valued part of a team. Working so often by myself, working in such a large group again was a little bit like "coming home" to me (..... large family).
What has and will continue to take place at Northfield represents all that can result from faith and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to take part. We experienced and witnessed only a portion of the collective intention, drive, and generosity that has already, and will continue to, bless all that is intended for Northfield and the girls that will be cared for there.

And in closing, I would like to extend a special thank-you to Christine Shepard of Midlothian, VA because without her energy, enthusiasm and willingness to reach out, we would not have had the opportunity to learn about, and become involved in, this fantastic project. There is a wonderful article here that highlights the project and pays tribute to Christine's efforts, http://www.dwconline.com/articles.php?article_id=2868.
Christine has also just been awarded the Humanitarian Award, which will be presented on May 13th at the 2nd Annual World of Windows (WOW) Awards Ceremony to be held at the Vision09: International Window Coverings EXPO in Atlanta, Ga. I could not be any more thrilled for her!
